The "Welcoming and Protecting Immigrants in Healthcare Settings” toolkit was developed as part of a project conducted by Dr. Altaf Saadi when she was a fellow at the University of California Los Angeles National Clinician Scholars Program.

The District of Columbia Department of Behavioral Health (DBH) is accepting applications for the 2025 DBH Peer Specialist Certification Training Program and Waiver Testing. The Peer Specialist Training will reinforce participants’ knowledge of recovery based on their individual experiences with the recovery process, bring a unique consumer perspective to person-centered care and enrich the practice of peer recovery support services in the District of Columbia. Applications for the Spring training class open March 24, 2025. Applications for the Summer training class open May 1, 2025. Applications for the Winter training class open Sept. 5, 2025.

U.S. Breastfeeding Committee, a national coalition that works collaboratively on policies and systems related to breastfeeding, has assembled resources for parents.

Pregnant or just had a baby? The National Maternal Mental Health Hotline (1-833-TLC-MAMA) is free, confidential and here to help, 24/7, in English and Spanish.

Mamatoto Village on Aug. 26 launched its Breastfeeding Center dedicated to supporting new and expectant Black mothers and their families. Book a consultation, home visit, office visit or TeleHealth visit with their Lactation Specialists.

Postpartum Support International (PSI) offers PSI-trained peer facilitators for a recovery-focused virtual gathering, “Substance Use Recovery Support for Perinatal Moms and Birthing People,” at 6 p.m. (ET) on the first and third Mondays of the month. This virtual peer support group is designed to support women who are engaged in or considering recovery from substance use disorders during pregnancy through two years postpartum.

Virtual MACS for MOMs ECHO™ Clinics are held on the second Tuesday of the month, from 8-9 a.m., for case-based discussions for maternal health providers. The fall cycle runs from September through December and offers real-time, online learning sessions about such pregnancy-related topics as opioid use and substance use disorders.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s “988 Partner Toolkit” is a resource center for social media, video, print, radio, FAQs, messaging and other marketing materials that can be used to promote the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists offers “Addressing perinatal mental health conditions in obstetric settings,” a free online course to help obstetric care clinicians address perinatal mental health

Building on the success of its October 2021 issue about perinatal mental health, the April 2024 issue of Health Affairs expands the magazine’s focus to “Perinatal mental health and well-being”
