Anniette (Annie) F. Maldonado, Ph.D., BCBA, is a Perinatal Psychology Fellow specializing in Latina mental health who joined the Developing Brain Institute in July 2024. In her role, she will work across DC Mother-Baby Wellness, neonatal intensive care and Zickler Family Prenatal Pediatrics Institute programs. Dr. Maldonado completed her doctorate degree from the University of Utah and her predoctoral internship in Child Clinical and Pediatric Psychology at Children’s National where she provided evaluation,

therapy and consultation services for children, adolescents and caregivers in outpatient and inpatient medical settings. She is also a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with expertise in managing children’s challenging behavior and parent training. Dr. Maldonado is a native of Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, and is passionate about addressing equity of accessibility to evidence-based practices for historically underserved communities. Her clinical interests include parent mental health with an emphasis on the perinatal period and Latina mental health, as well as dyadic parent-child interventions. Dr. Maldonado’s research focuses on the development, implementation and evaluation of cultural and linguistic adaptations to evidence-based interventions, especially within the Latine community.
