Morgan Chafin, BA, MSW, LGSW Perinatal Behavioral Health Associate
Morgan Chafin, BA, MSW, LGSW, joined the Developing Brain Institute (DBI) in March 2024 as a Perinatal Behavioral Health Associate for the Mommy&Me team. Morgan graduated from Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language and an additional major in History. She earned her master’s in Clinical Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, throughout which she held clinical positions in outpatient medical and mental health settings and participated in research studying the effects of cognitive-behavioral therapy interventions on adults and adolescents diagnosed with depression. Morgan has worked for several years in
inpatient and outpatient medical facilities where she provided therapeutic services to a wide range of individuals experiencing acute and chronic illness. Prior to her role at DBI, Morgan helped to develop Virginia’s first perinatal and postpartum partial hospitalization program where she served as a psychotherapist and discovered her passion for clinical work with this population. Morgan is very interested in the intricacies of reproductive mental health in women, as well as the social determinants that impact it, and she is enthusiastic to join the talented DBI team in advancing psychosocial wellness among the perinatal population in Washington, D.C.
