TyKera (Kera) Marrow, DPhil Perinatal Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow

TyKera (Kera) Marrow, DPhil, in January 2024 joined the Developing Brain Institute at Children’s National Hospital as a Perinatal Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow. Dr. Marrow earned her Doctor of Philosophy from Jackson State University in Mississippi. She completed an advanced practicum at Kennedy Krieger’s Center for Child and Family Traumatic Stress in Baltimore, Maryland, and her predoctoral internship at WellSpan Health in York, Pennsylvania. Dr. Marrow is also a Health Policy Research Scholar with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Clinically, her interests include perinatal health and wellness, postpartum support and women’s holistic health, with emphasis on Black women and motherhood.

Regarding research, Dr. Marrow is passionate about examining constructs that maintain medical mistrust in historically disenfranchised populations, intersectionality and health care, improving healthcare utilization, and utilizing culturally responsive and communal adaptions of evidence-based clinical approaches. Dr. Marrow is a passionate advocate and employs a culturally responsive, integrative and collaborative approach to foster a strong and supportive therapeutic relationship.
