Mariana Aokalani, M.D., Psy.D. Fellow postdoctoral de investigación T32
Mariana Aokalani, M.D., Psy.D., (de soltera Cerqueira), se incorporó al Developing Brain Institute (DBI) en septiembre de 2024 como fellow postdoctoral de investigación T32. Antes de su puesto en DBI, la Dra. Aokalani obtuvo su doctorado en Psicología Clínica de la Escuela de Posgrado de Psicología Profesional de la Universidad de Denver, especializándose en salud mental perinatal, infantil y de la primera infancia, así como en los trastornos por uso de sustancias de los cuidadores. Durante sus estudios, participó en el programa de capacitación OUD/SUD de Colorado, que tiene como objetivo abordar las necesidades de las personas de escasos recursos que luchan contra el trastorno por uso de opioides en Colorado.
La Dra. Aokalani completó su pasantía predoctoral en la carrera de Salud Mental en la Primera Infancia del Programa de Capacitación Clínica Multicultural de la Universidad de California, San Francisco. Tiene una maestría en Psicología Clínica por el ISPA y se licenció en Medicina por la Universidade Nova de Lisboa en Portugal.
Los intereses de investigación de la Dra. Aokalani se centran en la salud mental de los bebés con complejidades médicas, centrándose en mejorar las relaciones entre padres e hijos, adaptando los grupos de apoyo entre cuidadores e infantes para aquellos con bebés hospitalizados en unidades de cuidados intensivos (ICU) y abordando la salud mental perinatal para los cuidadores de bebés médicamente frágiles. Su investigación postdoctoral actual investiga los resultados de las intervenciones diádicas de salud mental para cuidadores y bebés en entornos de ICU neonatales y ICU cardíacas.
