Allison Barrientos, BS Perinatal Care Coordinator

Allison Barrientos, BS, is a bilingual Perinatal Care Coordinator who joined the Developing Brain Institute in November 2024. With a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and minors in Biology and Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University, Allison is passionate about working at the intersection of maternal health, early childhood development and health equity.

In her role, she draws upon a rich tapestry of experiences in clinical care, volunteer service and leadership. Allison has provided compassionate mental health support to patients of all ages, guided bilingual families through language and cultural barriers, and spearheaded initiatives to create inclusive spaces for underserved communities. health care. Allison aspires to become a physician-scientist, with plans to pursue a dual M.D.-Ph.D. degree specializing in pediatric neurology and maternal-fetal medicine. She is particularly interested in contributing to research that enhances our understanding of maternal and child health while supporting early interventions for developmental disorders. While her current role focuses on patient advocacy and care coordination, Allison is eager to explore research opportunities in the future. Guided by her passion for equitable health care and her commitment to advancing science, Allison envisions a career through which she will not only drive meaningful discoveries but also inspire hope and healing for the communities she serves.
