Novel Insights Into Feto-Placental Development With Assisted Reproductive Technologies

Are you pregnant after using fertility treatment?

Join PRIME ART, a study that supports placental wellness to improve outcomes for mother and baby. The placenta is essential for providing nutrition and oxygen to the developing baby, but there is still more to learn about this vital organ. PRIME ART uses state-of-the art, safe and effective magnetic resonance imaging to keep tabs on placenta health throughout pregnancy.

Why participate in PRIME ART?

PRIME ART uses state-of-the art, safe and effective magnetic resonance imaging to keep tabs on placenta health throughout pregnancy to support mother-baby wellness and outcomes.

You’re eligible for PRIME ART if:
  • You’re a woman older than 18 whose pregnancy was facilitated by assisted reproductive technology

  • Your pregnancy has advanced beyond 10 weeks’ gestational age

  • You receive prenatal care or plan to give birth in Washington, D.C.

What to expect?

This study includes up to nine timepoints: Some occur during pregnancy; one is shortly after delivery; and several occur during your child’s early years. Some visits are in person, and some are remote. In addition to taking high-resolution magnetic resonance images, we will study your blood samples and cheek swabs to better understand factors that impact placental development. And we’ll track your baby’s neurodevelopment through age 4.

Benefits of participation

To thank you for the value of your time, you may receive up to a total of $550 for participating in this study. Payments will be made after each completed study activity via a reloadable debit card. You also will receive up to $15 for transportation or a parking voucher and up to $15 for meals for each in-person, study-related visit.
