Our Aim

To learn more about how children born preterm develop later in life.

Understanding the Development of Former Preemies

The Developing Brain Institute (DBI) wants to learn more about how being born preterm impacts children’s development later in life. Your NICU graduate child can join the SCOPE Study if they enrolled in a prior DBI study about prematurity, and they are 6 to 18 years old. We invite school-aged children who have participated in previous studies to return to Children’s National Hospital to play thinking games, complete questionnaires and undergo a follow-up imaging, among other study activities.
