The Mulkey Laboratory, led by Sarah B. Mulkey, M.D., Ph.D., focuses on the neurological implications of a range of infectious diseases that can be transmitted from mother to fetus during pregnancy. Dr. Mulkey has contributed prenatal and neonatal neurology expertise to one of the nation’s first comprehensive Zika specialty programs. In addition, she serves as Co-Director of the Congenital Infection Program, which provides expertise to diagnose, manage and conduct research related to congenital infections, such as Zika virus, Cytomegalovirus, HSV, COVID, Toxoplasmosis, Lyme disease and Chagas disease.

The Mulkey Lab is committed to studying long-term neurodevelopmental impacts for infants born to mothers infected during pregnancy through research conducted domestically and internationally, in collaboration with colleagues in Colombia.
