Diamond Izzard, BS Clinical Research Coordinator
Diamond Izzard, BS, joined the Developing Brain Institute (DBI) at Children’s National in May 2025 as a Clinical Research Coordinator for the Mommy&Me study. Diamond graduated from the illustrious Howard University where she majored in Psychology and minored in Biology and Chemistry. After graduating she went on to work in Phase I Clinical Trial research that tested the efficacy of new medications on healthy populations. As a research assistant, Diamond was able to collect data for first stage testing of new drugs in humans, focusing on safety, tolerability and pharmacokinetics (how the body absorbs, distributes, metabolizes and excretes medications). She later worked in a research lab at Georgetown University for a human observational study that followed women living with HIV or at high risk for exposure. This research study has been collecting data since
its inception in 1990, and the data that Diamond was able to help collect is such an eye-opening testament to the progression of medicine and the treatment of HIV. Working in research has been very rewarding for her, and Diamond is very excited to continue her research journey with DBI in hopes of providing excellent support to the mothers and babies enrolled in the Mommy&Me study.
