Maria Neiers, PsyD Perinatal Psychology Doctoral Fellow

Maria Neiers, PsyD, is a Perinatal Psychology Doctoral Fellow who works across the DC Mother-Baby Wellness program, the Zickler Family Prenatal Pediatrics Institute, the cardiac intensive care unit and the neonatal intensive care unit, all at Children’s National Hospital. Prior to joining Children’s National in September 2025, Dr. Neiers earned her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Denver, in Colorado, with a specialty focus in Perinatal Through Five Mental Health. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at Advocate Childhood Trauma Treatment Program in Chicago, IL. Throughout her training, Dr. Neiers has provided individual, dyadic and group therapy to caregivers, children and

families as well as psychological assessments across community mental health, hospital, private practice and school settings. Her clinical and research interests include promoting early intervention, implementing attachment-based approaches to foster secure relationships, evaluating and applying trauma-informed interventions, advancing advocacy and policy efforts, and engaging in systems-level work to promote accessible and equitable care.
